Cotham Neighbourhood Forum
What is it?
First of all, a brief explanation of the what this is...

Even though we live in the postal area of Redland, these streets are in fact included in the Cotham Ward of Bristol City.
To confuse matters further the Police also recognise this as the Cotham Beat.

The Cotham Neighbourhood Forum is the new platform
which brings together the local services of the
Bristol City Council (BCC),
the Police (based at Redland Station)
and the residents of the Ward.

It provides the opportunity to raise issues concerning this area
and have an influence on how the services are focused.
The actions put forward at the Forum meeting is immediately the priority
until the next quarterly meeting in July,
where feedback of the issue is given.

The points raised in this Forum are put forward to the
Neighbourhood Partnership Meeting,
- bringing together Redland, Cotham, Bishopston.

Forum venues alternate between the
North Bristol Post 16 Centre, Charnwood House, 30 Cotham Park BS6 5UY
and Tyndale Baptist Church, Whiteladies Road, BS8 2QG

The next Cotham Forum meeting is
March 2011 7.00pm - 9.00pm TBC
at Tyndale Baptist Church

The Last Meeting - what was discussed?
Chaired by our Bristol City Councillor for Cotham Ward, Neil Harrison

3 Oct 2011
at Charnwood House, Cotham School
The agenda began with a brief introduction and review of previous meeting.

The main thrust of the meeting was to discuss the possibility of extending the Controlled Parking Zone from the Kingsdown area to Cotham
– as far as the railway line.

For Cotham councillor, Neil Harrison’s view on the matter,

Noise Action
The 'Action Week' may be over but the information may still be of interest to local residents.
We do not want issues to escalate as they did Autumn 2010 on Stanley Rd, resulting in Police and a court case.

The Noise Action website is well worth checking out as it is full of useful information
including how to approach 'Neighbourhood Noise Nuisance' issues.

Themes for Noise Action Week 2010 included:
* Headphones and hearing
* Student noise and how to deal with it
* Licensing and Licensed premises
* Noise from tenants
* Transport noise

35 Years for the Nisa Thieves!
Sentence was passed Monday, 1st March 2010, on thieves who targeted late opening Bristol convenience stores last year.
Over a 5 month period they stole £42,000 in cash and cigarettes.

They robbed the Chandos Rd Nisa (now Londis) Store not once but twice, brandishing metal bars and wearing balaclavas both times.

Poor Bianca was unfortunate to be working in the shop on both occasions,
as she explained on the ITV West News.

Though not physically attacked the Judge said
the experience for staff 'was both alarming and disturbing'.

The gang of six now face jail for 3 to 7 years each for their 13 robberies.
